Pampore Saffron Growers

Pampore, Kashmir

A small cooperative of families who've worked the same saffron fields outside Pampore for generations. The flower blooms for barely two weeks a year, and every thread is still separated from the crocus by hand at dawn, before the heat of the day can dull its color.

Ghulam Nabi Sheikh

Third-generation crocus grower who harvests before sunrise with his two daughters, before the day's heat can touch the threads.

You only get two weeks a year to get it right. There's no redoing a saffron harvest.

Our sourcing philosophy

No bulk buying, no blending with lower-grade imports. What we list as Kashmiri saffron is Kashmiri saffron, traceable to the specific harvest week.
