Dubai Chocolate Bar

The single most-ordered item on Deliveroo globally in 2024 — a small Dubai dessert shop's bar that the whole world tried to copy.

Created by Sarah Hamouda at Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, this bar took a beloved Middle Eastern dessert — knafeh, usually a cheese-and-syrup pastry — and rebuilt it as a chocolate bar filled with toasted shredded phyllo and pistachio cream. A single video was enough to send it viral worldwide in 2023–2024, triggering copycat versions, resale markups, and a genuine global shortage of the original.

What makes it taste like that

The shell is a clean, thin snap of chocolate, but the real texture is inside — kadayif pastry toasted until dry and crisp, folded through pistachio cream and a whisper of tahini, so every bite has crunch against smooth chocolate rather than one uniform bite.

Chef's note

Toast the kadayif completely dry before it ever meets the pistachio cream — any lingering moisture turns the crunch soft within the hour.
